MINI HYDRO ELECTRIC

The Perak state government has planned to built 25 mini hydro to generate electricity in Perak. All 25 sites has been identified. These sites will be under the purview of Sustainable Energy Development Agency (SEDA). One of it will be in Jalong Tinggi - project Sungai Korbu 7.0MW.

The 'Orang Asal' was verbally informed. The actual location is unknown. They suspected that the projects will be develop near Kampung Kuak which is the 'Orang Asal' ancestors' land with fruit orchards and their hunting ground.

As such, the 'Orang Asal' have told me their anxiety on who's land will be affected, is there compensation, what's the benefits, the environment effect, etc. as at to-date no dialogue with the 'Orang Asal' on this matter either by JAKOA or the develop.

A written request by Persatuan Orang Asli Semenanjung Malaysia [POASM], Cawangan Sungai Siput to YB Dato' Mohamad Shaarani, the EXCO in-charge of Rural Development to arrange a briefing / dialogue on this matter. Hopefully, it will receive a positive respond from YB.

LOST

In the course of my visit to KOA Kenang, Jalong Tinggi recently, a 'Temiar' man in his 40's approached me. He beg for my help with tears! It so sad plaintive. I asked him what is his problem.

He told me that he has lost his daughter for almost 5 years. His daughter called saying she is in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia wanted to come back but she has no money. She ran away with an Indonesia man by the name Wayan Parta. She was working in The Store Sungai Siput at that time. She has a daughter with that man. She has given her address.

Her father has approached a political party for assistance but no avail. A police report has been made.

The Indonesia address: Dusun Pato Pedu Kecamatan Rhee, RW 04 R#12, Sumbawa, Nusa Tenggara Barat.

I have tried to get assistance from leaders whom are experience in these cases. It is difficult to get their contact. PAs' contacted but no answer. Luckily the former Malaysia Consulate in Kunming, Yunan, China whom I met in Kunming during Perak-Kunming Youth Friendship Visit has been posted there. I have seek his assistance. Hopefully this case can be close soon!
