Islam is the official religion of Malaysia. Malaysia government has allocated huge budget to developed the human capital by training Islamic intellectual, understanding and imams, etc. Great effort to convert the 'orang asal' by the religious department.
Almost all 'orang asal' in Jalong Tinggi, Sungai Siput is Muslim. There are 7 surau and 1 religious school in this settlement. However, there is only 1 imam. The surau in KOA Landap is dilapidated and unsafe. Government spent a lot in building new, big, beautiful and expensive mosques but not to repair for the surau in this indigenous people settlement.
I was told that the Batins' of the respective suraus' have to borne the electricity bill personally. The indigenous people are hard-core poor community, can't the government through JAKOA bear the cost? TNB may contribute as their corporate social responsibility too!
The road next to the surau is very bad. I was informed that 3 new houses will be build in October 2014 by JAKOA. The road will be repair after building the houses. Lets wait and see.
Application for fund to repair or rebuild the 'balai sewang' (community hall) has been forward but no news till to date. There are few more 'balai sewang' need to be repair or rebuild.
